I believe this is my single proudest knitting achievement. It's by my favourite designer, Kaffe Fassett, and it's for my favourite man. Blue Diamonds was originally featured in Rowan Magazine 14 (I think) as either a sweater in Donegal Tweed 4-ply, or a jacket in the same yarn doubled. Having manipulated Mike into Up Country on a holiday in the Peak District, we looked at the sample garments and decided to knit it as a big aran-weight sweater. I bought the kit for the jacket and augmented it with some extra colours. A bit of re-shaping was needed but essentially I followed the pattern.
It was great to knit, as far as a KF ever can be. The design is quick to memorise, you only need to think about the colours every 10 rows or so when you start a new diamond. The colours of Donegal 4 ply and Lightweight DK are subtle and gorgeous. It gets worn a lot, I think that's a compliment!
