Colinette Adventure

I didn't get round to saying that I went to the inaugural Knitting and Stitching show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham in September with three knitting/quilting friends.  This is the calm, spacious, uncrowded entrance after we had just stopped for a cappucino in the foyer...

AND THESE ARE THE SPOILS!

Blueyarn

Handpainted blue/green pure wool merino: baby garment of some kind, maybe a nappy soaker.

Handmaiden Lace Silk and Lorna's Laces sock yarn:

Colinette "Muse" book and Lasso in Forest - to make the sweater shown on the back of the booklet.  I've done the front and back of this and am working on the sleeve - so at least I'm managing to knit up what I've bought before the next show comes around.

I hope they do a show at the NEC again - it did feel like a first time, with some exhibitors absent and noiticeably less busy than London.  It's so easy to get to for me though (30 minute drive) it's hard to justify going elsewhere. I hope it gets a bit of momentum.

More Colinette pictures next time!

Star in stripes

I'm desperately trying to get back into blogging.  How does anyone knit with young children?  Or don't you even try?  It feels like such an uphill struggle.  On the other hand, I think I'm surfacing from the panic of motherhood and able to plan life a little more ahead, so I'm going to try doing small and quick blog posts instead of trying to catch up the backlog.

Back in May I was knitting a Debbie Bliss striped top for my younger boy.  I finished it, he's worn it, we love it!

Very JojoMaman, I feel.  I'm discovering that handknits are good for children because they stretch quite well as the child grows, more so than the ubiquitous fleecy tops.

I'm now stuck into Christmas knitting for myself and others, and I did get started with the Colinette Lasso.  More of that in another post, and I will try to update my albums.

Speaking of fleeces, at my local farm shop, I got talking to the farmer about his unusual sheep in a little paddock next to the car park.  They were a very dark brown, I thought they may have been Jacob, but it turns out they were Zwartbles from Belgium,   he was keeping them as pets.  Perhaps I should ask for a fleece next summer! They are a beautiful colour, as chocolatey as my cats.

That's it.  Little and often.
