I had a black-tie university reunion to go to this weekend and needed an evening bag. (My wardrobe is not furnished with the trappings of gracious living like evening bags). What I really needed was a skein of black chenille to make a plain little envelope embellished with a beaded mohair flower. What you can buy in Nuneaton, though, is fabric. It's a looong time since I last bought a paper pattern, I can tell you! This is a half-yard of black velvet and an evening's work, with a little help from Burda.
It has a zip across the top and was lined with some green satin (I had a black dress with a green lining) that I hoarded since I was actually AT university. Only problem is that the husband thought it looked like a pencil case! Don't think I will give up the knitting.
Knitalong news
I had better confess this right at the start. I am struggling a bit with my Kaffe Fassett. I am struggling a bit with the knitalong too! You can't carry that massive bag of yarns around everywhere. I don't have any travel knitting! I will have to peruse a few blogs for inspiration.
I have only the slightest idea how to run a knitalong - I am trying to apply some common sense but please do forgive any lapses in "knitiquette". I will try to keep updates on the September 15th page - so please refer back there for the rest of this posting.

If I can be of any help, re: the Kaffe Fasset knitalong, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm a big fan of his work (wishing for a book of totally new designs) and have done a number of his sweaters. I've also hosted three knitalongs, one that is completed, plus "Color on Colour" scarf, and the soon-to-start "Faithalong", a Sally Melville jacket. The KF knitalong will be fun!!
