Stash sorting
Embarrassing moment today. I don't see too much of our neighbours as I work full time, but I've had a flurry of deliveries recently and Irene from next door kindly signs for them. She knocked on the door this evening though, when I had ALL my stash spread out over the living room floor to try and do some prioritising. That is a ground floor room where the curtains were not closed!(Some of you are probably thinking that is a small stash if you can fit it on the floor of one room). I hope that she didn't see me sitting on the floor in the middle of it knitting two rows of Forest (see 22 March) to see how long it took (8 minutes each). I think I was just hidden behind the sofa. Now she will think I'm weird as well as antisocial.
What the postman brought, though, was wonderful:
On the left, more yarns (Rowan Felted Tweed) for Stone Argyll from Sissel, along with some beautiful Alpaca 4ply. On the right, the colours that Marie-France sent last week. This is really coming together, thanks so much!
As for the alpaca - I feel some lace coming on. I should confess that my knitting is sadly one dimensional - I've done an awful lot of colourwork, virtually no cabling and nothing of any substance in lace either. Also, over half my stash is 4-ply's. (If anyone is looking for True 4 ply Botany, do let me know!). I've looked at a lot of lace patterns with the Edgy Exchange in mind. Am I allowed to blog about what I'm making? My recipient presumably doesn't know that I'm knitting for her. I have not seen anyone else mention it yet.

I'm looking for 3-5 balls Rowan True 4ply Botany in "redwood". Can you help me ?
Thanks
Katrin

I think the contents of your mail more than make up for the possibility of your neighbor thinking you're strange! :-) The Rowan Felted Tweed looks particularly good to me!

wow, you people are already well into the planning for the edgy thing!

As a recipient I like surprises , as the knitter I want to know my efforts will be appreciated! Particularly as I'm not too sure that my idea of "edgy" isn't someone elses "totally off the wall".
Went past your old address yesterday and said hello for you. I'm wondering if the fact that I can no longer get yarn bargains in the local Scope shop has something to do with your move!!

Blog about it - it would especially be fun if your recipient reads your blog!

Do you know, I was wondering the same thing Sam ? The person knitting for me has been in touch and has consulted me (at some length !) about exactly what I would like so I wondered if we were supposed to contact recipients - but I think it's optional? I'll probably make mine a surprise for her and just hope she likes it :0) I don't think she reads my blog and even if she does she won't know it's for her .....

Hi, just found your blog through the Martha Along list! Wow, I'm impressed by your perseverance with Balaclava, it's beautiful. Go for Forest! I wanted to knit it ages ago, got frustrated with it and sold off my kit. I kick myself for that one! Maybe seeing your successes will also get me to confront some of my moldering UFOs!

I have just found your blog and think it's great. I was interested to see your alpaca and that you're thinking of knitting some lace. I bought some gorgeous alpace/silk/cashmere 4-ply in Canada and am now knitting the Kiri shawl (from www.alltangledup.com). I think it's going to work well, but of course won't really know until it's blocked. The yardage is the same as the Kidsilk Haze that Kiri is designed for.
