It was  hard to say anything interesting about this week's knitting! Work busy. Still knitting the same cardigan. Looks more or less the same.  Then a load of exciting things happened all at once.

This afternoon,  I curled up on the sofa with a DVD and nearly reached my target of the armhole decreases on the first sleeve of Martha.

That does mean I finished both fronts. I also found some nice little shell buttons in  my button box, saving me from a button finding trip.  I can't remember whether they are Rowan ones, or just pillaged from some worn out blouse from Monsoon.  (Keeping you in suspense till next time to see them!) I could really sew up the fronts and back now, there is so little to do, what with the bands being knitted-on.

I did something I've not done before this week.  I started a garment without swatching!  It's so hard to figure out the tension for this cable rib jacket, that I've started a front so that I can measure its actual size.  Debbie Bliss has written the pattern so it's very tapered to the bottom, but I'd rather it was straight, or slightly waisted.  Well, here's a bit of the right front, with enough stitches for the full width of the largest size.  Early to tell yet whether it's the right size.  The Peace Fleece might technically have the same tension as the Maya, but it's making a much denser fabric.  This is what I want though, something to wear instead of the ubiquitous fleece jacket in the cold evenings.  So far, so good.

A lovely parcel arrived from Marie-France, who's kindly sent me some leftover Rowanspun DK and Felted Tweed towards the Stone Argyll collection.  I now have pretty well all the accent colours, which will greatly reduce the wastage.  And last of all, I have a name for my Rowan "Edgy Exchange" partner.  I foresee a happy few evenings choosing what to knit, she clearly has very good taste so it will be a real pleasure.

Martha's looking brilliant. I've put mine down for a few weeks whilst I work on Hamilton and a Scoop du jour, but it's very tempting to carry on, when I see yours.
I can't advise with the Peace Fleece, as I've only used Maya!
