High jinks at the weekend
Top knitting day on Sunday! An afternoon session was organised at Web of Wool in Leamington Spa, in fact it was a bit of a colourwork fest so that Diane and I could look at things we wished we'd knitted ourselves. We were kindly hosted by Anna (on the left) and joined by Gill who'd driven up from Towcester. (I think the worried look is just due to being photographed).
And also joined by Nicky and Diane. Nicky was working on the most amazing Colinette throw, the flashes of yellow are Rowan Cotton Rope.
In this picture you can see Penny as well as the caseful of sweaters Diane kindly brought for me to admire and sigh wistfully over. I particularly loved the Foolish Virgins jacket, and TWO J&J Seaton's in four ply! Thanks so much, Diane.
Detail here of a Sasha Kagan, Kaffe's Sampler jacket from Rowan 35, and a design from the new Di Gilpin book. This last was really special (I'm running out of superlatives), the yarn's very rich and the colours do just sing. Check out Yvonne's Caspian from the same book!
I can now exclusively reveal that the Web of Wool shop looks like this on the outside:
And like this on the inside! We are talking, Sock World. It's nearly impossible to leave without a skein or two.
Best of all are all the sample socks:
I can only report another three inches on Martha's second sleeve though, what with all the excitement, tea, biscuits and ogling.
I had a real blast from the past on Saturday too. I dropped into another yarnshop, Natural Knits which is run by an ex-Rowan consultant, Debby, in Warwickshire. Wish I had my camera- on the display was a Sasha Kagan Pretty Pansies cardigan - that's the creamcoloured one from Sasha's first book.
I did a front and back of this (about 18 years ago) but got so frustrated I actually binned it to get it out of my stash! Too much 3-colour Fair Isle and single rows in different colours. There's always somebody out there who's finished that sweater you gave up on - I find that strangely comforting!
Enough blogging, time to hit the sticks...

Wow, I am in awe of the ladies who knit garments with such skill. I hardly dare touch intarsia - unless knitted by others. I, too, wish I had been there.

It just makes your heart sing to see all those beautiful knits, I met Anna very briefly at Shepton Mallet a couple of weeks ago when I was raiding her stand (and what a display!) for yet more sock yarn.
